New projects

Hello, everyone, we are all most halfway through the semester and with that said I hope everyone's semester is going well. For me personally it has been going really fast. Aside from that, we have been given a few new projects.

Prezi I don't mind using but I can't say I'm a huge fan of it. I am also using it for another project and from there on if I have the option I am probably going to avoid it. The corpus analysis was interesting to do as I have never done one. It was cool to see the word cloud and the phrases that are used a lot in a piece of writing. I have not started on the flyers yet for the classes as I am not sure what software I want to use. I am thinking I will use Photoshop as I have been wanting to use it more and get better with it as this is the software I am going to use for drawing. Relating to that the reason I wanna start drawing in Photoshop is that I started an online course for character art and drawing. I hope to improve my skill in character drawing as it is the type of field I want to get into. I am looking forward to using Photoshop more as I have used it before but don't really remember how to use it.

The cross-media campaign is going well and I am using a variety of software and apps to do it. When I started this class I did not think we would be switching around so often but I am glad that we are. This week is gonna be a busy one for me. So my goals for this week are to start experimenting with Photoshop for the flyers and hopefully to start drawing in Photoshop this week as well.

Update 10/4/19

I have been trying to think of a picture story as it is kinda hard to think of one for H. P. Lovecraft. The corpus analysis I know was a little trouble for others while I think I had it easy as I could just do it on a whole book. Now I am having trouble with the picture story part of the project. Just spitballing some ideas, I thought maybe I would do a picture story on H. P. Lovecraft growing up and as he got older I would alter the image more to darker tone and possibly add a border of some kind.

  1. I have the same opinion about prezi! If I can avoid it I will, but if I have to use it I can put up with it. i've been enjoying your cross media campaign so far. You've been doing well and everything you've turned in so far has looked good. Keep up the good work, man.

  2. Ian,
I personally wasn’t a huge fan of Prezi at first either just because I had a specific idea of what I wanted to do and Prezi didn’t have as many options at Microsoft Powerpoint does so I had to play around with Prezi a little bit. I thought your corpus analysis was very good and looked very professional with the specific topics you chose and the photos that corresponded and just overall it looked very professional. I also liked how you continue to carry out your original color scheme throughout your blog posts, it makes it look more uniform.

  3. Ian,

Your continued hard work and effort is continually shown as you continue to grow within the class, alongside your projects. It gets easier the more you work at it, so I am glad to hear that you have been bouncing around the idea of using various software to realize certain visions. I think everyone seems to share the same opinion of Prezi.

For your photo story, I think have a Cthulhu themed border around each picture would make for a great edit, especially increasing in intensity of the Cthulhu theme, and presenting darker more thematic images. I look forward to seeing your work throughout the class.

    Keep up the hard work.
