Working on Infographics

I am excited for this week as we will be going over infographics and doing workshops. My other class have is also going other infographics as well so I have learned a lot about them recently. At first, I did not really know what an infographic was but after looking at some examples I figured it out. I finished my draft for my infographic on H. P. Lovecraft. At first, I was all for the bestiary idea but there are just way too many monsters in his books to compile them all. As I said in my last update I was going to change it but was not entirely sure what it would be about. In the end, I decided to focus on the writer and the type of writing he does and not so much the monsters.

I was not sure if I needed graphs or data like that so that is something I hope to get feedback on and was also not sure if I was limited to one page or not so I did 2. As of right now, I am ok with where it is, however, I did forget to put my logo in the draft, I will add that in the finished version. Feedback will be very helpful for me so I am looking forward to that. Here is my current version.

I am quite comfortable with Canva right now, at first it looked overwhelming but looks can be deceiving as the program is quite easy to learn and use. I just messed around for a bit and got the hang of it real fast.

I am also excited to see some of my other classmate's infographics and what they came up with. I am hoping I gain some insight from seeing others' work and learn some more ways I can improve upon my own.

Update 9/27/2019
The feedback I received was very helpful and I already have done some final touches and fixed some errors on my infographic. Moving forward the next project is the corpus analysis. I think my corpus won't be too tough as I can just choose one of his books. I am going through with what I said before and choosing to do a corpus on H. P. Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu". I chose this work because it is the most well-known story of his. Aside from that I have started to use Prezi and it is not too hard to use

  1. Ian,
I really like your overall design of your Infographic, it looks very professional and I like the use of the colors and how it transitions throughout the background. You might want to try and not have so much blank space in between your paragraphs and possibly wrap the text around your images a little bit more in the future. I like all the specific details that you incorporated on your Infographic because I have never heard of H.P. Lovecraft before and the details explain what he does very well and I like how the photographs go with the descriptions as a visual aid.
